Installing - Service adjustments

 

Sorry, neatComponents cannot install without ...
During the installation process neatComponents will check that various Windows services and attributes are enabled.

The installer will generally make the necessary adjustments automatically.

If the installer does require you to take action you will see a dialog similar to this image. The dialog box and the actual list will look slightly different depending on which operating system you are using.

See this typical example below

Windows 7 & 8 and Server 2008 & 2012 use different terms:

     Windows 7 & 8 calls these
     Internet Information Services 'Features'
     Server W2008 & W2012 calls these
     Web Server 'Role Services'

Using Windows XP or Windows 8 or Windows 10
You can install onto 'Windows XP Pro' edition but you are limited to 1 website.  Read more....
   The basic 'XP' edition has its functionality restricted by Microsoft.

You can only install onto 'Windows 8 Pro'  and 'Windows 10 Pro' editions.
   The basic editions have functionality restricted by Microsoft.


Making Service Adjustments

Making the service adjustments is easy. Simply follow the guidance below, and then run the Installer again.

W2008 & 2012R2    (see more detail... )
Access the Windows Server Manager by going to:
Windows Start | Administrative Tools | Server Manager
Add Role Services
Windows 7 & 8 & 10 Pro Editions   (see more detail...)
Access Windows Features by going to:
Windows Start | Control Panel | Programs and Features
Turn Windows features on or off

 

To add Roles

Select 'Roles' in the tree in the left-pane, then select the Web Server (IIS) view in the right-pane.
Then click the 'Add Role Services' link in the right-column to select the Role Service you want to install.

To add Features

To turn a Feature 'on', select its check box.

... and then run the neatComponents installer again.

Windows Server 2008...

Open the Server Manager and add in the missing  'Role Services' for Web Server (IIS).

... and then run the neatComponents installer again.

 

Windows 2012R2

Open the Server Manager and add in the missing  'Role Services' for Web Server (IIS).

... and then run the neatComponents installer again.

 

Windows 7 and Windows 8 Pro

Open the Windows Control Panel, and select 'Programs and Features':

Select 'Turn Windows features on or off' from the left column, and in the dialog that opens select the Internet Information Services (IIS or Web Server) section:

Expand the IIS section out, and select the options required by the installer. The example below is typical but the actual list you see may be different, depending on your current Windows configuration. You may notice that some options are selected automatically as you enable others - that is correct.
